Job Description

We are looking for a Design Engineer in the Columbus OH area.   In this role you will assist in developing design documentation for the Engineering Department through structural analyses, design computations, and CAD modeling and detailing for assigned projects. (This role will have limited interaction with clients, Owner Agencies or their agents)

 

Responsibilities:

-Follows direction from Project Engineers to complete engineering tasks for projects

- Uses structural analyses and engineering design tools by inputting geometries, layouts, designed sections and sizes for use in developing bridge designs.

- Uses CAD modeling software to advance designed elements into bridge layouts, sections, details and material sizes for use in developing bridge drawings.

- Prepares basic Material Take-Off Estimates (MTO’s) using spreadsheets and software for use by estimating department.

- Assists with field reconnaissance and develops as-built records for use by Project Engineers.

Qualifications:

- A 4-Year Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil (BSCE) Engineering

- Engineer-in-training (EIT) certificate is preferred

-4 Years or more experience preferred

- General knowledge of structural analysis, structural analysis methods, mechanics of materials and related software programs

- Exposure to the AASHTO Standard and LRFD Highway Bridge Specifications is required.

- Exposure to bridge analysis software such as STAAD Pro, GT STRUDL, Midas Civil, or LARSA 4D, LEAP, etc.

- Ability to draw accurate plans and details in CAD using AutoCAD software
