Job Description

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Help lead the customer-level physical switchgear selection strategy throughout the Scout product line, including placement, function, illumination and feel requirements
  • Work with the digital user experience (UX) team on the complementing digital asset strategy for our physical controls, including needed notifications and pop-ups to support our HMI strategy
  • Help advise other teams in Scout on the best ergonomics principles for reach, grasp, vision, and logical grouping of functions
  • Work with design and engineering teams to develop compelling and useful stowage concepts for our products
  • Conduct internal customer clinics and benchmark competitive vehicle sets as needed to gather feedback and insights for optimizing Human Factors at Scout for our target customers
  • Develop requirements and best practices for Human Factors at Scout Motors
  • Work closely with other critical teams in the development process, including design, legal, UX, engineering release, and electrical architecture teams to deliver the best Human Factors possible.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in ergonomics, human factors, and/or control switchgear in the automotive R&D space
  • Familiarity with CAN/LIN-based automotive electrical architectures, and awareness of ISO 11898
  • Familiarity with CATIA, Teamcenter, and/or other CAD-based visualization software
  • Familiarity with JACK and/or RAMSIS ergonomics software
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability testing, and user research methodologies
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards and regulations related to physical controls, such as FMVSS and NHTSA Driver Distraction
  • Experience with graphic design, visual communication, and animation tools (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.) is desirable
  • Strong communication

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000 - $140,000
