Job Summary

As a Junior Shopify Developer, you will support the development, customization, and maintenance of Shopify e-commerce websites. You will work closely with senior developers to implement new features, optimize performance, and improve user experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience and grow their skills in the world of e-commerce development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shopify Development Support:
    • Assist in building and maintaining Shopify e-commerce sites to meet business objectives.
    • Help customize Shopify themes and templates based on design specifications.
    • Support integration with APIs, third-party applications, and marketing tools.
    • Perform regular testing and debugging to ensure site functionality and performance.
    • Shopify is also used for online store creation, product management, sales & checkout, order/ shipping, and Marketing & SEO.
  • UI/UX Collaboration:
    • Work with the UI/UX team to implement user-friendly designs.
    • Assist in modifying and updating existing sites to improve functionality and design.
    • Contribute to the development of responsive layouts across devices (desktop, tablet, mobile).
  • Technical Contributions:
    • Support the configuration and testing of third-party Shopify applications.
    • Help with the integration of abandoned cart notifications, review modules, and other e-commerce tools.
    • Learn and apply Shopify’s Liquid templating system and basic API integrations.
  • Learning and Development:
    • Stay updated on Shopify platform updates, tools, and industry trends.
    • Participate in team meetings and code reviews to continuously improve technical skills.
Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in web development or e-commerce platforms; familiarity with Shopify or similar platforms like Magento (Adobe Commerce) is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
    • Familiarity with Shopify’s Liquid templating system is a plus.
    • Basic understanding of API integrations and web platforms.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Basic understanding of responsive design principles.
  • Exposure to third-party services and APIs for e-commerce platforms.

Work Environment

  • Location: Cincinnati, OH. Hybrid working environment.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, typing, and occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds. Regular use of vision abilities, including close and distance focus.
