Staff Software Engineer - Site Reliability

The Talent Mine is seeking a Staff / Lead level, Site Reliability Engineer with strong AWS and Python/Java skills for an immediate FTE role.  This is a 100% remote position with full benefits, RSU's, annual bonuses and more for a client in the SaaS based arena.  If you are the kind of software engineering leader that brings best in class development practices to a Dev Ops / Cloud team, and are great at elevating others around you, this is an ideal fit for you!

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Site Reliability team, you'll play a pivotal role in upholding the reliability and performance standards of our infrastructure, which forms the bedrock of our commitment to excellence.  You'll lead the charge as the technical mastermind behind one or more essential components of the systems, boasting a comprehensive understanding of every aspect. What You'll Do:

Leadership and Influence:

• Lead team members in exploring new approaches that will provide optimal, innovative solutions to identified issues
• Collaborate with architects and product managers to design comprehensive software products meeting diverse customer needs
• Foster continuous improvement in technology, methodology, and relationships across R&D
  

Communication and Collaboration:

• Resolve critical issues and assist in design decisions using professional concepts
• Clearly communicate concise technical visions and directions
• Estimate effort levels and break down complex problems into management tasks
• Manage dependencies between teams in forecasting and planning
• Provide guidance and solutions to development teams to achieve company goals

The most qualified candidates should have most of the following attributes:

• 8+ years of experience in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) / Software Engineering, specific to AWS / open source cloud environments
• Professional expertise leading a team of SRE/engineers on best practices.  You are the person that can answer the most difficult technical and architecturally challenging questions
  
• Collaborate with Cloud vendors and external technical support for upgrades, problem resolution, and design issues
• Monitor and tunes appropriate systems to ensure optimum levels of performance
• Automate tasks using open-source tools with a focus on safety and repeatability
• Participate in on-call rotations which include 24x7 support of complex environments
• Ideally, a BS degree or higher within Computer Science / Engineering related disciplines. You understand coding best practices from an academic and practical perspective

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional experience with Java OR Go, Python or Docker.  You possess a strong open source development background.
• Lead level experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Knowledge of Git and docker
  
• Experience running Apache Kafka

How You’ll Be Rewarded

Total Compensation Range in the US: $180,000 - $205,000.00 (this is a mix of salary + bonus + RSU's + 401k matching, see below)

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
