Palmer Group has partnered with a reputable client to fill their Payroll Manager position. In this role, you will be the face of the organization's payroll function, which includes overseeing and processing multi-state payroll, as well as growing and developing a team. What you will do:

• Process multi-state payroll
• Ensure accuracy with payroll records and timesheets
• Maintain employee records and changes, including the setup and deductions of garnishments
• Manage all federal, state, and local tax reports
• Responsible for all union payroll, including onboarding union employees, maintaining compliance with bargaining agreements, as well as coordinating union-related audits
• Process W-2 forms at year-end
• Process improvement
• Grow and develop payroll team

What you will need to be successful:

• BA degree in business administration/finance/accounting or related field preferred
• 3+ of payroll processing experience, including tax withholding
• Union Payroll experience preferred
• General knowledge of the ADP Workforce Now advantageous
• Understanding of state and federal tax laws; including wage and overtime requirements
• Strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
• Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize to meet deadlines
• Active member of the American Payroll Association a plus
