Role: Product Development Engineer / Medical Device Senior CAD Designer

Location : Irvine, CA - 92618

Duration : 06 Months on W2 (Possible Extension)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Medical Device Senior Mechanical CAD Designer / Design Engineer to support our product engineering team. The role focuses on the design, development, and modification of medical devices using SolidWorks, with potential use of Onshape CAD software. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical and electromechanical design principles, GD&T, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) concepts. The successful candidate will collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to update and refine CAD models and drawings for our Aurora products.

Key Responsibilities:

• CAD Design & Development : Create, modify, and update detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for medical device components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Product Development : Collaborate with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering teams to update existing product designs with Design for Manufacturing principles, ensuring correct dimensioning and compliance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T Standards.
• Design Optimization : Evaluate designs to improve manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
• Documentation : Maintain comprehensive design documentation, including CAD drawings, design history files (DHF), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
• Collaboration & Communication : Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of components. Effectively communicate with stakeholders across teams and levels.

Qualifications :

Education & Experience:

• 3D Solid Modeling CAD training is required.
• 6-10 years of experience in CAD design for medical devices or related industries.
• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks is essential.
• In-depth knowledge and application of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 Standards.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and other design analysis software is a plus.
• Knowledge of materials used in medical devices is highly desirable.

• High attention to detail.

Certifications :

• Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
