What To Expect
The position will be based in Sparks, Nevada at Tesla's Gigafactory in the Quality department. The ideal candidate for this position will not only have strong analytical skills (Problem-Solving, “soft” skills), but also demonstrated experience running/utilizing a broad range of tools and equipment ("hard skills"). They will work closely with manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to determine product specifications and tolerances and to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality. What You'll Do Maintain product Quality plans and control plans, Quality performance metrics and drive issues to root cause solutionsAudit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes, procedures and assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirementsMonitor quality, determine the root cause of problems, and implement corrective actions and countermeasuresProcess and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) as required and take part in an ongoing optimization of the products with respect to both cost and production technologyParticipate in continuous improvement activities with manufacturing and external suppliers and work with Supply Quality Engineering and suppliers to develop specifications that support production requirementsProvide design for Manufacturability feedback to Engineering as well as participate in DFM reviews and analyze and disposition component and product defects as a member of the Material Review BoardAnalyze and interpret data independent and anticipate potential problems and take preventative action and support PFMEA activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated
What You'll Bring Experience within Quality systems in a high volume Manufacturing environment (QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred and GD&T knowledge is helpful)Experience with extensive problem-solving and root cause analysis and strong aptitude for electronic test and measurements systemsProficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc highly desireAbility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 pounds as neededDetail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills and familiarity with basic MS Word/Excel is requiredAbility to use technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data and operate relevant personal computing hardware and standard softwareMust have command of the English language, both written and verbal
