The Opportunity: The Real Estate Analyst is a key member of the Bailard, Inc. Real Estate team and is an integral position for the organization, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Real Estate. The Real Estate Analyst will have a leading role in the property-level analytical activities for the Fund’s investments. The position will provide support to both the acquisition and asset management disciplines, across all property types and geographies. The functions of the role include underwriting new investments, providing financial analysis for all investment- level decisions, assisting with quarterly valuations on existing investments, and working closely with the fund’s portfolio managers. Additional responsibilities include support for Real Estate related projects and duties.

Responsibilities: - Conducting financial analysis for potential acquisitions.
- Creating and modifying Argus models and Excel discounted cash flow and waterfall models.
- Performing financial analysis to support investment decisions including new leases, capital plans, financing, and exit strategies.
- Research necessary market data for prospective investments to determine underwriting assumptions.
- In partnership with the team, reviews and presents quarterly valuations of existing assets.
- Assists in the preparation of internal investment memos for acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and re-financings.
- Market research related too reporting and investment strategy.
- Additional duties as required by the Real Estate team.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Real Estate, or related field.
- 0 -3 years of work experience in commercial real estate.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with the ability to effectively adapt communication to multiple audiences.
- Strong proficiency in Argus and Excel with experience in discounted cash flow modeling and waterfall structures.
- Desire to work across real estate disciplines and learn all asset classes.
- Experience working within financial services or investment management industry.
- Intellectual curiosity and demonstrated ability to stay current with technological developments.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience working in the Financial Services Industry, specifically in Real Estate.
- Knowledge and understanding of SEC regulatory requirements and the technology required to meet those requirements.
Where you’ll be: Bailard, Inc. has offices located in San Francisco and Foster City. This role will primarily be hybrid from our San Francisco office, with the ability to work remotely two days a week. This position will not be eligible for relocation support or sponsorship.

*Analyst Assessment – Candidates will be given materials on a potential investment opportunity including an excel cash flow. They will be asked to model in excel deal level returns and partnership waterfalls. Additionally, they will be asked to write a brief synopsis of the investment opportunity including key assumptions and risks using only the information provided.
