Requirements:
• Associate’s degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistance from an accredited institution
• Current, active New York State Board License as a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant(SLPA)
• Minimum of one year of experience in a school setting is preferred
• Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and compliance requirements
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Speech and Language Pathologist in providing direct speech therapy services to children with disabilities (ages 3-21) in Early Childhood and K-12 Special Education Programs as specified in the IEP
• Implement speech therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist
• Support students in improving speech development and communication
• Assist in conducting speech therapy evaluations by collecting data and documenting student progress
• Maintain accurate records, including Medicaid billing and required service documentation
• Provide recommendations on assistive technology and speech-related classroom accommodations
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school professionals to support student progress
• Assist the Speech and Language Pathologist in offering training to teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff on positioning, mobility techniques, and other physical therapy strategies
• Participate in diagnostic evaluations, staff meetings, and IEP development
• Provide services in a variety of settings including classrooms, therapy rooms, and homebound environments as directed by the supervising Speech and Language Pathologist
• Submit progress reports and other required documentation in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned by administration.
