Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate across IT functional boundaries (e.g., system administrators, SAN administrators, network administrators, database administrators) to configure, install, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, and manage systems for optimum performance and reliability.
- Report any server performance issues that may impact mission operations.
- Maintain daily operations, monitoring, problem identification/resolution of database servers/systems, applications, and operating systems, ensuring optimum performance and availability.
- Install, build, rebuild, configure, maintain, secure, document, and administer databases, system-related products, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage according to standards and operational requirements.
- Provide database administration support, including installing, configuring, maintaining security, installing patches, and performing necessary upgrades to keep servers/databases updated and secure.
- Perform database design, structure identification, schema definition, access privilege management, query optimization, documentation, instance upgrades, long-range planning, operational guidelines, and database protection.
- Collaborate with application owners/developers to ensure databases meet their performance and availability requirements.
- Maintain database dictionaries, monitor standards and procedures, design file storage, and integrate systems through database design.
- Perform remedial actions to ensure databases remain online and available to applications and users.
Requirements
- BS in computer science or IT and 4-8 years of relevant experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
- Active DOD TS/SCI level security clearance, with eligibility to obtain and maintain a CI Poly.
- Experience in installing, upgrading, and patching MS SQL databases.
- Experience in backing up and restoring database instances.
- Knowledge of securing SQL databases to the latest DOD security requirements and best practices.
- Experience in daily SQL database administration adhering to DOD standards.
- Installed and maintained database schemas based on the latest application requirements.
- Experience with SQL 2012 or higher.
- Experience in Windows Server environments.
- IAT Level II Baseline Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
- Ability to translate highly technical matters to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- MCSA SQL certification.
- Prior experience with DISA and DISA’s support to mission partners.
- TS/SCI with CI Poly preferred.
