Job Description:

Position Overview:  

We are seeking a talented and experienced Technical Game Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Unreal Engine 4, a strong technical background, and a passion for creating engaging and immersive gameplay experiences. You will work closely with designers, programmers, and artists to bring our game concepts to life, ensuring that our gameplay systems are both innovative and robust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement core gameplay mechanics and systems using Unreal Engine 4’s Blueprint visual scripting

  • Proactively identify and define technical solutions for various gameplay and systemic features.

  • Prototype new game mechanics and iterate on them based on feedback and testing.

  • Optimize game performance by profiling and debugging gameplay elements.

  • Collaborate with designers to translate creative visions into technically sound and efficient systems.

  • Write and maintain technical documentation for game systems, tools, and workflows.

  • Assist in the integration of visual effects, animations, and other dynamic elements to enhance gameplay.

  • Identify and resolve technical challenges to ensure seamless integration of game features.

Qualifications:

  • Live in or near Loveland, Co.

  • 3 years experience as a Technical Game Designer or similar role in the video game industry.

  • Extensive experience with Unreal Engine 4, including Blueprint visual scripting. 

  • Strong understanding of game design principles and mechanics.

  • Experience with tool development and workflow optimization.

  • Proficiency in debugging, profiling, and optimizing game systems for performance.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Passion for video games and a deep understanding of what makes games fun and engaging.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multiplayer game development.

  • Knowledge of animation, physics, and AI systems in Unreal Engine.

  • Experience with the ARK or ATLAS IP.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $67,500 - $113,500 per year. Exact base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
